Yummypets: a new application for hi-tech pets (and their owners).

Smartphones are a big part of our daily lives but now they even figure in the lives of our pets. Humans are no longer the only target of applications for smartphones and tablets…

Developers have designed plenty of mobile applications for humans to assist their pets and also to directly entertain our furry friends.

You can download applications specifically created to let your cat play and catch fish or mice on the screen of your tablet. Amazingly you can feed your pet at home while you are away with a simple tap on your mobile screen or even follow your dog walking outside thanks to a GPS tracking signal from its collar. There’s an app for everything!

Cats and dogs are very popular on social networks too: for example in the UK 1 in 10 pets have a profile on a social network (Facebook page, Twitter profile or YouTube channel) and more than half of UK pet owners are sharing photos of their pets online.

A social network specifically dedicated to our small friends also exists: the social petwork Yummypets. This app lets you create a profile for any kind of pet you own: cat, dog, reptile, fish, bird, rodent, horse or insect. You can share tidbits on its life through photos, status and videos with all the other animal lovers of the community and exchange messages with them.
