BlackBerry climbs at the third place of Global Smartphone Market’s podium

While Google and Apple are strongly established at the first and second position of the global smartphone market’s podium, the battle for the third position is still going on between RIM and Microsoft. At the moment the third place seems to be occupied by BlackBerry that, according to the latest comScore numbers has a market share of 5.4% of the total U.S. smartphone subscribers, that is supposed to increase with the recent launch of BlackBerry Z10.

In 2009 RIM has launched his own App store called BlackBerry World that has recently reached over 3 billion app downloads with 6 million coming daily and has an inventory of over 205,000 apps for all OS, of which over 100,000 are native for BlackBerry 10. The majority of downloads in 2012 were generated in APAC and LATAM, as per graphic below. In particular 55% of the APAC’s revenue was generated in Indonesia.
